Having the Strength to Endure...

· · ·

We all have hardships, but we come out of them stronger. This is the theme of our December release.

What is the Ko'oloa'ula Flower?

I chose the Koʻoloaʻula flower to be the star of this theme because she is native to the islands and also endangered. The Koʻoloaʻula flower can only be found on Oʻahu, Maui, Lānaʻi, and Hawaiʻi Island. Color features of this flower are vibrant and bold ranging from a butter yellow to a dark maroon red. Its leaves flow so elegantly and is topped off with a beautiful stem. The reason they remind me of our theme is because they can grow in hot, dry, and sunny places. They thrive in our harsh, hot weather and continue to bloom beautifully throughout the year. This flower endures hot summers and rainy winters without losing its purpose. It continues to grow even though its species abundance is slowly decreasing.

The Word I'm Looking For

The one word that clicks when I think of enduring and persevering is RESILIENCE.Resilience(n) is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.I would always want people to describe myself as resilient. To be called resilient means being recognized with a true warrior's heart. Resilience may be one word, but it is packed with meaning and boldness.
